Sterling Recruitment Services are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Transport and Planning Manager to join our client in Wallsend.

Description of tasks:
The T&P Manager manages the overview of the general planning within SPU.
He looks for all the right information:
Site/Yards Layout Planning/Drawing entire yard (A, B & C-shop, including all yards
and quays)
Shift planning production units SPU
Project schedules
The T&P Manager combines all this input in one joint planning and checks that the entire planning is feasible.
The overview planning is kept in standardised documents that are always kept up-to-date and adapted according to the progress of production (to be stored onto Sharepoint weekly)
Production sequence and schedules of individual projects
Overview of planned and expended hours per project
Targets per project (LD-data)
Yard planning
Site Layout Planning/Drawing
Overview of available space
Production capacity overview
Distribution of production capacity per week

The T&P Manager is also responsible for rolling out a uniform planning system within
the various production units.
The goal is to arrive at a uniform planning system so that the schedules of the various departments can easily be linked.

The T&P Manager provides a uniform system for monitoring the current status of production and projects.
Progress – The progress system should enable everyone to view the current status
of the production departments.
The T&P manager checks that the progress is filled in in a timely and correct
manner by those responsible within production.
Time registration system in production – The T&P manager is responsible for the
time registration system within SPU (M-soft & ERP):
Timely preparation of new projects
Distribution of scan codes in production
Training of employees to be able to register correctly
Checking for timely and correct registration by all employees
Supervision of the processing of hourly data by HR

Management of the transport team
The external transport department is responsible for all transports outside SPU’s production halls .
These transports are done with crawler cranes, tower cranes, mobile cranes, Terberg, elephant, SPMTs, ships or pontoons.
Organisation and follow-up
The transport team is managed by the supervisors.
The T&P Manager keeps the overview:
Setting priorities in the planning
Follow-up safe working according to lifting plans and RAMS
Personnel certificates
Personnel planning
Transport planning
The external transport department is the connecting link between all production
departments. The planning of this team determines the planning of all other
This makes communication and the availability of correct information extremely
The schedule is initially drawn up by the supervisors. The T&P manager checks the
schedule on a daily basis and determines the priorities in case of conflicts.
This planning will be discussed daily at the 9.30am meeting.
Load-in and loadout planning
The T&P Manager maintains an overview of the various ships that need to be
loaded and unloaded. For this he keeps in close contact with the maritime manager
and suppliers

Experience required:
Masters Degree or equivalent through experience
Minimum standard of safety training
Knowledge and understanding of different European standards (Eurocode, NBN, NEN, DIN…), British Standard, ASM…
Knowledge of the guidelines when calculating the different connections.
Knowledge of the machinery and the consequences in terms of the cost of steel structures (Lowest End Cost)
Knowledge and understanding of the UK Regulations (LOLER, PUWER, HSWA) and with International standards and codes associated with lifting and hoisting operations and lifting equipment and the ability to disseminate the requirements of these to the Supervision and rigging team members.
Extensive experience and proven competence in the planning, risk assessment and safe implementation of lift plans
Understanding and extensive knowledge of computer systems such as
MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point…)
ERP (Internal software)
