Mechanical Technician

Full Time

Our client, a highly successful business with an excellent reputation, based in Hartlepool is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join their multi-site Maintenance team.  The role involves planned re-active and preventative mechanical maintenance.  The successful candidate will follow strict H&S procedures at all times, will produce regular reports, record work completed on company Maintenance system and support semi-skilled members of the team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carry out equipment breakdowns
  • Carry out equipment breakdowns, planned preventative Maintenance on processing equipment aiming to maximise plant availability, resulting in zero unplanned down tim and monthly preventative maintenance inspections
  • Run safety compliance inspections & maintain records
  • Working to H&S, environmental policies at all times
  • Maintaining SOPs as required
  • Support external buildings/service maintenance contractor teams, such as fire alarms and compressors
  • Develop and document training material to facilitate transfer of skills & knowledge to the team
  • Control and evidence of critical spares for all key processes and ask for complete and ork with engineering drawings
  • Adhere to safe working practice and procedures including and not limited to lockout, tag out, confined space and working at heights
  • Following training will operate equipment including loaders, forklifts, high lifts, cranes, cherry pickers and scissor lifts

Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ level 3 in suitable engineering subject

Experience

  • Welding experience is advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in specific mechanical tasks
  • Electrical experience would be advantageous

Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of production process equipment
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge
  • Report writing

The duties and responsibilities highlighted may vary over time. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and extent of the role.

Additional Information

  • 4 hours minimum will be paid after training
  • Salary reviews held after 3 and 6 months, outcome dependant on performance when signed off as competent and able to go on the call out rota

  • Shifts: Will initially be 06.00 – 15.30 until trained, then a two shift pattern 07.00 -16.30 and 13.30 – 23.00
  • On Call: On call 1 week in 4, when on 13.30 – 23.00 will be on call for breakdowns from 23.00 – 06.00 through the week and weekend until 06.00 Monday
