Deputy Production & Maintenance Supervisor

Sterling Recruitment Services are currently looking to recruit a Deputy Production and Maintenance Supervisor to join our client based on Riverside Park, Middlesbrough.

As a Deputy Production and Maintenance Supervisor, you will assist the shift supervisor in setting the standard for your shift and peers. You are responsible for deputising for the shift supervisor when they are not present, utilising your team to keep the machines serviceable and the production line running efficiently. This includes planned and reactive maintenance, fault investigation and diagnosis, and getting the best from your team. You will also monitor production outputs and react accordingly to ensure the best possible performance. You will continually build on your maintenance and repair knowledge with regards to the Plant, ensuring that updates are communicated.

Your role is safety focussed playing an active part in the Company’s health, safety and improvement culture. As the deputy shift supervisor, you must ensure a safe positive workplace culture through efficient management and control of all personnel, materials and processes.

As a leader in the business, you will be flexible, with a positive attitude and outlook which you will impart to your team.  As a leader, you are expected to drive your team whilst maintaining morale, as well as being integral in helping the business make the right decisions.

 

Your duties will include, but are not limited to;

  • Ensure the Health and Safety of all personnel.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are upheld.
  • Control tools and spares on your shift, taking ownership for any equipment used.
  • Support the shift supervisor during plant breakdowns, striving to conduct repairs safely & efficiently.
  • Deputise for the shift supervisor and ensure maximum efficiency and safe running when doing so.
  • Conduct shift briefs when required, ensuring all shift personnel understand the requirements for the upcoming shift and the larger picture.
  • When deputising, conduct a thorough handover with the oncoming Shift Supervisor at the end of every shift. Along with conducting shift reports to ensure all necessary information is passed on to the next shift and the management team.
  • Undertake all tasks in accordance with company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and Business Management System
  • Ensure ongoing good housekeeping on-site, driving concurrent activity to ensure shifts are efficiently run.
  • Act on and report all defects / hazards in a timely manner.
  • Remain flexible in hours / shift work to cover the needs of the business.
  • Attend and contribute to any training deemed necessary for the role.
  • To act as an ambassador for the Company.
  • Take a proactive lead in on-site health and safety.
  • Pro-actively drive on-site improvements.
  • Collate required information, as required, to allow the business to continually evolve.
  • Ensure vehicle safety checks & report any damage or faults through the correct procedures.
  • Oversee forklift truck charging to make sure they are rotated and charged regularly ready for peak times.
  • Account for all production and plant keys ensuring all are stored correctly when not in use.
  • To carry out the duties of the post in a manor such as to safeguard and enhance the profile of the company.
  • Perform any duties as requested by the shift supervisor and management team.    
  • Maintain and enhance a team ethos throughout the business, ensuring that shifts work together.
  • Assists in the development of risk assessments as required.
